Dia de los Muertos

Inspiration: Day of the Dead, the beautiful Mexican celebration held on November 1 and 2 during which it is believed deceased loved ones return to visit their families and friends. This scent combines some of the traditional elements of an ofrenda, or altar, which families create to honor those who have passed. Included are their photographs and belongings, marigolds and chrysanthemum flowers, pan de muerto (a sweet bread made for the occasion), incense, papel picada ( paper banners) and colorful calaveras (sugar skulls). It was my mother's favorite holiday and in turn has become mine.
