Death in the Afternoon
Death in the Afternoon
absinthe & champagne
Inspiration: Ernest Hemingway wrote the book Death in the Afternoon in 1932. He also created the cocktail by the same name as his contribution to the 1935 cocktail recipe book called So the Red Nose. The recipe is simple, "Pour 1 jigger of absinthe into a champagne glass, add iced champagne until it attains the proper opalescent milkiness. Drink 3 to 5 of these slowly."
