The Other Cranberry Sauce

Inspiration: There were always two kinds of cranberry sauce on our table for Thanksgiving. The kind from the can with easy preparation: refrigerate, open can on both ends, slide the gelatinized cranberry form onto the crystal cranberry sauce serving plate (that’s all it was ever used for). The other kind involved whole cranberries and cooking with all sorts of zests. I think secretly everybody just wanted the canned kind, but you tasted the other kind because it was fancy and because of the effort. This scent is an homage to that much-appreciated, probably under-acknowledged effort to make something fancy for your family on Thanksgiving Day.
